Demonologist Update: New Ghost Info and Train Station Exorcism Guide

Demonologist New Train Map and Exorcism Guide

Everything You Need to Know in Demonologist's New Update

If you’ve ever played The Demonologist and thought to yourself,   “Huh, ya know what this game needs? More jump scares and reasons for me to constantly question my own sanity.”

Congrats. Clock Wizard Games has apparently heard you.

The latest Demonologist update, dropped in earlier this month with a brand-spankin new haunted map, a new ghost, a funderful 120 new paranormal sequences, and a ridiculous amount of other improvements and tweaks just in time for Halloween.

The star of the update is undoubtedly the new Black Platform 13 map, a creepy train station sitting somewhere between the over-graffitied world of the living and whatever terrible customer service department exists on the other side. Trains may no longer get here on time and the passengers may not be particularly alive, but something is most definitely waiting for you on Platform 13.

Because apparently ghost hunting wasn’t stressful enough without public transportation system…watch the next map drop as the haunted DMV.

The Demonologist | Clock Wizard Games

Anyways, I’ve spent some time playing through the new update and, honestly, I’m having a pretty damn good time with it. Despite some of the hurdles Clock Wizard Games has dealt with along the way, The Demonologist continues to be one of the more polished ghost-hunting games around in my humblest of opinions, and the inclusion of this new map feels like a solid addition heading into Halloween.

Here’s everything you need to know!

Meet Nalthir, the New Ghost That Doesn't Play Fair

The new ghost is called Nalthir, and I’m honestly not quite sure if I love him or hate him.

Our new friend the Nalthir doesn’t simply want to murder you. No, no no…that would be too easy.

The Nalthir is the ghostly embodiment of a Reddit troll and wants nothing more than to mess with your investigation.

According to Clock Wizard Games, Nalthir can deceive investigators and make them believe they’re following the correct path while quietly leading them away from the truth. In other words, it seems like the ghost-hunting equivalent of some homeless dude at 2am giving you completely wrong directions to the gas station while confidently pointing towards a dubious dirt path behind a Wallmart.

The important thing to remember is that you can’t necessarily treat every piece of evidence as gospel when dealing with Nalthir.

Community testing has already uncovered some unusual behavior surrounding its evidence, with players reporting differences in how certain evidence appears or behaves compared with normal interactions. Since these details aren’t fully documented in the official patch notes, I’d treat those discoveries as player vibes rather than a new testament carved into a haunted stone tablet until we are able to get some confirmed info. The only modified evidence I’ve personally seen so far was a Nalthir cosplaying as a Phasmo Obake and dropping me some 6-fingered Ectoplasm Stains so…just double and triple check your work for oddities.

Fun. Can you feel the fun in my voice? Text? Whatever, fun.

All Aboard The New Map: Black Platform 13

Black Platform 13 is exactly the kind of map that makes you question why you would ever voluntarily enter a building like this in the first place.

Even if there were zero ghosts here, I would say the risks of either being shanked by a delightful vagrant or even just contracting tetanus from a rusty nail are all just as (if not more) concerning than a potential ghost. But what’s more fun than stepping on used needles that you can find in any reputable modern train station?

Haunted scavenger hunts and puzzles, of course!

If you’re just being lazy and trying to identify the ghost, you can approach the map like any other  investigation. But if you want to finish the job and get all those sweet, delicious monies – you’re going to need to pay attention to your environment and solve a couple of puzzles.

Speaking of which…

Warning: spoilers ahead.

If you’d rather figure out the puzzles yourself, turn back now.

But if you’ve already spent around 30 minutes wandering the train station wondering why the hell you haven’t completed the exorcism…welcome. You’re among friends.

Just a side note: I don’t think I’ve ever seen any puzzle pieces spawn in the hallways so I would just focus on the rooms themselves and I generally find it easier to search without any flashlight or lights on and rely on the flash that items give off.

1. Find the Fuses

If you’re struggling to find all the fuses, search each room carefully.

I’ve noticed that fuses and other puzzle objects generally seem to follow a rough one-item-per-room pattern. It isn’t completely consistent, so don’t treat this as an absolute rule, but if you’ve already found a fuse in a room, you’re less likely to find another puzzle piece in the same one.

Once you’ve found all three of them, just drop them into the fuse box on the wall in the far-right room on the bottom floor to activate the lightbulbs for the next part.

2. Solve the Lightbulb Puzzle

Now that you have discovered electricity, you can go out the door next to the fuse box and see that there are three lightbulbs on the wall with interactable buttons below them.

For each lightbulb, the button to the left will change its color and the the button to the right will change it’s blinking pattern and the soul-crushing goal here is to match these lightbulbs with the color and blinking patterns of the light bulbs that you can find in the room back upstairs through the first door on your right by the opposite door.

The good news: there are no penalties for wrong answers or restricting time limits and you don’t have to match the order of colors, just have each color represented.

The not-so-good news: for people like myself that have the battered short-term memory of a rum-soaked goldfish…it’s annoying and you might find yourself having to recheck a few times to finish this up.

3. Find the Train Tracks

Scavenger hunt #2 seems a little unoriginal here, but it is what it is. Same thing as the fuses though, just look through each room until you see a glowing piece of train track that you have to place onto the track in the newly opened room.

There are a couple of sneaky spawn points where these might pop up for you, and those would be:

  • In the left corner of the first room when you first enter the map on the floor (the only puzzle piece that doesn’t follow the “I’m going to hide in a dedicated room” rule).
  • Underneath the desk in the same room that has the lightbulbs and instructions for the lightbulb puzzle.

Once you finish this up, make sure to grab the necklace from the box that opens next to the door – you’ll need that for the last step.

4. Solve the Track/Button Riddle

Of course, they save the best one for last!

While this isn’t the hardest puzzle in the world, it can be a bit unforgiving if you just randomly press buttons and don’t think ahead.

The way this works, is that the game gives you four podiums with buttons that correlates with four pieces of track – each button rotates the sections marked in Roman numerals underneath, and the goal is to complete the train track within a certain number of button presses (the red number on the wall will tell you how many you have left), before the spiked ceiling pretends to be the worst panini press ever invented.

So if you hit the second button that has II and IV marked underneath, it will rotate the second and fourth pieces of track, and so on and so forth. I can’t really just *BAM* give you the answers to the room, because they seem to be different every time you enter (I think?), but if you have trouble with puzzles like this, you can play it safe and do something like take a screen shot and work it out in the safety of your tent instead of button mashing to death.

5. How to Finish the Exorcism

Okay, well you’re past all of the mildly difficult parts (maybe more annoying than difficult) so you just gotta bring it on home now!

My mistake the first time I did this was not realizing that there was a box that opened up when I finished assembling the train track that held the neck piece, so make sure to grab that along with the torch from the box in the next room and just bring it all to the sarcophagus in the final room with all of the ghosts.

Just interact with the sarcophagus a few times until the animation starts up and just kick back and enjoy the fruits of your labor…finally.

New Demonologist Update is a Win

Might have went a bit too in depth for the exorcism part there, but that’s okay.

Anyways – the new train station map gives players another funderfully creepy location to explore and with Halloween coming up, I expect I’ll be spending quite a bit more time dodging imaginary murder hobos in the train yard while questioning my life choices in The Demonologist.

Because apparently that’s what passes for funsies around here.
