Welcome back to The Other Side, the ghost-hunting game that decided to stop playing nice.
With the launch of version 0.9.2.6, the devs have overhauled the ghost system, stuffed the game with new toys, and basically said, “Let’s see how brave you really are.” If you thought flickering lights and EMF 5s were a bit spooky before, well…good luck?
Let’s break it all down, throw in some tips, and see if this game’s new direction is worth the late-night screams.
The biggest game-changer? The ghosts finally have unique personalities.
That’s right: 18 different ghost types, each with their own behavior patterns, quirks, and tantrums. And here’s the kicker – you can identify them without needing specific equipment.
No more checklist gameplay. Now it’s about watching and understanding the ghost, which is either thrilling or terrifying depending on how badly you want that payday.
The full list of ghost behaviors is still being finalized, but if you’re desperate, the official Other Side Discord is loaded with spreadsheets (like the ghost behavior) and sightings from people who have seen things…unholy things.
The infamous Summerhill Psychiatric Institution has gotten a rework, and no, it didn’t get less creepy. It now features two new favorite room candidates, a non-favorite break room (because ghosts need union-mandated breaks too), and better hallways so you don’t get lost and die somewhere stupid.
Which, I still do anyways.

Also, there’s new color balancing that actually makes it feel like a horror game instead of a poorly lit hospital sim. If you haven’t revisited Summerhill lately, now’s the time. Bring backup.
The lobby size increase means the pickup truck now allows five players, and the box truck can haul in six. That’s six chances to screw things up, forget the Holy Water, or scream over one another in the dark.
You love to see it.
Speaking of trucks…the Box Truck now has a CCTV system that lets you view static cams and cellphone feeds from your brave (or doomed) teammates. It’s like watching a ghostly version of Big Brother, only everyone gets eliminated by a vengeful spirit.
A ghost-agitating EMF field that beeps louder the closer danger is. Think of it as a haunted Geiger counter with an attitude.

Spray and pray. It disorients ghosts during hunts – just don’t overdo it or risk glitching them into a permanent daze (which the hotfix supposedly fixed, but you never know).

Drop one, light it, and wait. Ghosts might interact with it. Or ignore it. Or start going crazy all over like a ghostly toddler in a rage.

The inventory system now includes a “Blessed” slot for protective gear, so you don’t mix your crucifix with your EMF reader like a rookie.
The HQ stash screen shows contract info, map, difficulty, and – bless this – whether you forgot something vital. If you still run into a mission without a flashlight, that’s on you now.
Track Behavior: Don’t rely on EMF or spirit boxes alone. Watch how the ghost behaves. That’s all info now.
FLX‑POD = Trap Tool: Toss one near the ghost room to know when the ghost is pissed off.
Holy Water Wisely: Don’t spam it. Spray when cornered, not when slightly spooked by your teammate sneezing.
Light the Candles: Use Old Candles in high-traffic zones for interactions. Great bait and great for mood lighting.
The next update is already teased: Abaddon Hallows, a cemetery location that sounds like a goth metal album and will probably be just as unforgiving.
If the ghost AI continues to evolve and locations get this kind of love, The Other Side might just be poised to claw out of early access purgatory with style.
This update makes The Other Side feel more tactical, more immersive, and way more brutal. It’s not just about checking off evidence – it’s about surviving long enough to learn something. So grab your gear, huddle up in the fetal position, and hope someone remembered the Holy Water.
See you in the graveyard!

Hi, I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Report AFK, a gaming and anime site built for people who are tired of sanitized mainstream media coverage and toothless hot takes. I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. Whether I'm deep-diving into ARAM strats, roasting a broken patch, or side-eyeing the latest "diverse" but soulless AAA release, I write with one goal in mind: cut the fluff and tell it how it is. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season. Follow my rants, insights, and updates on ReportAFK.com and let me know what you think in the comments - I read (and usually respond to) every. single. one.

Looks good but is this just another phasmo clone?

Hey Dexter, kinda sorta. It focuses a lot on the shiny veneer but I just don’t feel like it has the meat when comparing to something like Phasmophobia just yet. It’s still early access though so it could keep pumping out updates. I just hope it settles on a direction.
