Capcom is dropping a crossover bombshell into Monster Hunter Wilds with Free Title Update 3 (Ver. 1.030), launching September 29, 2025.
Hunters, get ready – because Omega Planetes from Final Fantasy XIV Online is about to stomp all over your hunting grounds, bringing with it some sick raid boss energy, crossover gear, and a whole new way to flex your hunter cred.
This isn’t just a slap-on collab where you grab a goofy hat and call it a day. No, this is a full-on invasion of Eorzea’s sci-fi nightmare into Monster Hunter’s untamed Wilds.
Hunters at HR 41 or higher who’ve cleared the main mission “What Lies Ahead” can unlock the special event mission. Your quarry? Omega Planetes, a machine of pure destruction imported straight from FFXIV’s raid history.
Omega Planetes doesn’t look like some lumbering pushover.
Expect high-intensity attacks, relentless patterns, monster spawning, and unique mechanics that will demand coordination. Capcom has already confirmed you’ll need to employ special tactics to bring it down and featured the use of (what seems to be) a barrier spell and offensive spells in the sneak peak video above.
And when it finally hits the dirt? That’s when the real goodies kick in.
Taking down Omega Planetes rewards hunters with materials to craft exclusive hunter and Palico gear, plus Seikret decorations dripping with FFXIV flair. But that’s not even the half of it.
The Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy collab is also bringing two of FFXIV’s most iconic jobs straight into Wilds:

Dark Knight Armor Set – Wield a massive two-handed blade and embrace the darkness. The look is unmistakable, the style iconic, and it gives Monster Hunter that extra dose of edge.
Pictomancer Spells – The wild-card pick. These arcane artists pull living power out of their paintings, and now you’ll get to unleash that creativity mid-hunt.
Pair those with crossover Palico and Seikret options, and you’ve got a whole suite of FFXIV-themed tools to flex in the hub.
As if Omega Planetes wasn’t already a massive shake-up, Capcom’s piling more on. Starting October 22, 2025, hunters HR 100 and above can take on the third Arch-Tempered monster: Arch-Tempered Nu Udra.

This beast will hit harder than its tempered versions and drop materials for the new Nu Udra γ hunter armor and Felyne Udra γ gear. Consider it your ultimate endurance test.
Alongside Arch-Tempered Nu Udra, Capcom is bringing seasonal flavor to the Grand Hub. The Festival of Accord: Dreamspell runs from October 22 to November 12 (JST) / October 22 to November 11 (UTC). Expect:
Festive hub decorations
Limited-time food menus
Seasonal equipment, gestures, and camp décor

As amazing as the upcoming FFXIV Online collab is, it’s hard not to feel like Capcom and Square Enix left a hype train sitting at the station. Because let’s be real – if there’s a single Final Fantasy game begging for a Monster Hunter crossover, it’s Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Sure, Square Enix tested the waters last year with a Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis x Monster Hunter event. That brought some themed gear and even a Rathalos fight, but here’s the catch: Ever Crisis never really broke through.

Outside of its niche base though, that collab unfortunately barely even made a ripple. And while Ever Crisis fizzled, Monster Hunter Wilds has the kind of clout that could have made a FFVII crossover event explode!
Just picture it for a second:
Cloud swinging the Buster Sword (the OG inspiration for Monster Hunter’s Great Sword).
Sephiroth translating his slick style into a Long Sword moveset so smooth it hurts.
Aerith weaving support spells into hunts like a magical safety net.
An epic boss battle against something insane like Ultima Weapon.
That lineup would’ve been the stuff of legends!

Something that could hook not just XIV players, but the entire gaming crowd raised on FFVII’s legacy. The Remake series is huge, polished, and culturally iconic. Dropping it into Wilds? Instant megaton bomb to the face.
But here’s the rub: Square Enix makes infinitely more money by funneling hunters into their live service juggernaut (FFXIV) than promoting a remake that already prints money like it’s using cheat codes IRL.
From a business angle, it adds up. From a fan angle? It feels like they picked revenue over a raw, once-in-a-lifetime chance at pure awesomeness.
Don’t get me wrong – Omega Planetes looks incredible, and this collab is still a major win.
But damn…imagining Cloud and Sephiroth carving up a legendary boss like Ultima Weapon in Wilds? That’s the kind of crossover that would have lived in your head rent-free forever.
Okay – my rant might be over, but Capcom isn’t stopping here!
The Monster Hunter Wilds update roadmap already teases Free Title Update 4 right around the corner and scheduled for December 2025, which will introduce Gogmazios (yes, the massive siege-like Elder Dragon from past games).
Add in promises of supplemental endgame content, and it looks like Wilds is set for a strong winter push.
This Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV isn’t just a crossover – it’s a statement.
Omega Planetes is the kind of big, flashy fight that brings two fanbases together, and it’s bundled in with some serious extra content to keep hunters busy while bringing in the badassery of one of gaming’s most iconic and popular franchises in history.
Hunters, sharpen those blades and prep your builds. On September 29, the Wilds get a little wilder, and a whole lot more fun.

I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season.
