If you’ve been playing Marvel Rivals lately and wondering why your tank’s been getting sliced into vibranium confetti – congrats, it wasn’t just you.
Wolverine got buffed last week and immediately decided to speedrun the Vanguard population into extinction. But don’t worry, NetEase saw the chaos and slapped a hotfix on him faster than he could yell “SNIKT!”
Let’s be real – bro needed it.
The berserk little mutant was melting faces with Phoenix in tow, steamrolling tanks with that claw combo and healing faster than most support mains. The devs took five days to admit they goofed, and hit him with a nerf triple-play:
Image: Wolverine | X-Men | Disney
Berserk Claw Strike damage and range: down
Healing Factor cooldown: up (90s to 105s)
Kill-Heal delay: increased from 10 to 12 seconds
Phoenix synergy (Lifesteal boost): slashed from 33% to 25%
The result? A still-dangerous melee menace, but no longer a walking death blender. If you’re playing tank, you can finally breathe again. Maybe.
Pro Tip: Phoenix mains: time to switch off the Wolverine crutch. Try Psylocke imo, she’s still busted in the right hands.
Mmmhmm…yes, this is real apparently.
The “Summer Special” event runs from July 17 to August 15, and it’s bringing the heat in more ways than one. On the actual gameplay side, you can earn a free Thor skin by leveling your Battle Pass to 14. But the true content is the skin drop featuring:
Luna Snow (giggity edition)
The Thing…in a tropical thong
Alt-color variants for Thor, Psylocke, Loki, and Luna

The memes write themselves, and frankly, NetEase knows exactly what they’re doing. It’s the kind of shameless summer fun that’s equal parts cursed and funderful.
If you’re planning to grind, do it early – those Battle Pass levels won’t earn themselves, and you don’t want to be stuck at level 13 with Thor’s abs just out of reach.
Most of the patch is lightweight, but one change stands out for casuals: you can now earn accessory points in Practice mode against AI. That’s huge for players who just want to chill, earn skins, and not have to deal with the pressures of actually playing games…like anyone that writes for Kotaku.
Also fixed:
Spawn room collision bugs
Control key binding weirdness (finally)
Some random polish no one asked for, but we’ll take it
And I’m not just talking about The Thing here *cough cough*.
Is this a massive rework?
Nope. But for a sub-500MB patch, it’s got claws, drip, and some real quality-of-life goodness. Wolverine got humbled, summer skins are ready to break Twitter, and you can now grind Practice mode without feeling like you’re wasting your life.
Report AFK verdict?
Short, sweet, sweaty, and just the right amount of ridiculous.

Hi, I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Report AFK, a gaming and anime site built for people who are tired of sanitized mainstream media coverage and toothless hot takes. I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. Whether I'm deep-diving into ARAM strats, roasting a broken patch, or side-eyeing the latest "diverse" but soulless AAA release, I write with one goal in mind: cut the fluff and tell it how it is. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season. Follow my rants, insights, and updates on ReportAFK.com and let me know what you think in the comments - I read (and usually respond to) every. single. one.
A place for gamers, by gamers, untarnished by corporate gaming media and their nonstop attempts to elevate bad games while denouncing any developers brave enough to stand up to them.
