Gaming GuidesNew Releases 16 1 Ayefkay September 8, 2025
Silksong is finally here, and the internet is losing its collective mind. Years of waiting, countless memes, and way too many fake release date “leaks” later, and bam, we’re in Pharloom swinging Hornet’s needle at bugs twice her size.
One of the first true roadblocks you’ll hit is the Bell Beast, a chunky roly-poly that looks like it belongs in a toy chest until it’s bouncing across the screen and deleting your health bar.
You’ll find this boss tangled up in silk near the top of The Marrow, hanging out uncomfortably close to map vendor Shakra.

Don’t get too excited until you’ve unlocked the Silk Spear from Mosshome, though. You’ll need it to slice through the web and actually start the fight.
I made a video guide below on how to beat the Bell Beast in Silksong for easy reference, but if you want it spelled out for you – the Bell Beast comes out swinging in two phases:
Phase One: It charges across the ground, leaps in big arcs, and sometimes rolls a couple of bouncing ball bells your way. You can tell which attack he’ll use by the size and position of the smoke/dust cloud before he attacks. Smoke that goes all the way up the screen – he’ll jump attack. Smoke that goes midway up the screen – he’ll charge.
Phase Two: The ceiling decides to join the party when the Bell Beast enrages. Bells start dropping with light pillars that telegraph where they’ll land. Stay mobile, hug the edges if you need breathing room, and pick your attack windows carefully.
It’s a battle of patience more than anything. Learn the patterns, strike when it’s safe, and don’t panic when bells start raining like it’s Mardi Gras.
Want to actually see this oversized bell-bug get squished?
Unlock the Silk Spear in Mosshome first.
The height and position of the smoke will tell you if he’s going to jump or charge.
Watch for light pillars on the ground and above for incoming bells.
Don’t overcommit. Two or three hits, then reset.
Use downward jump strikes when it leaps. That’s basically free damage.
Save your silk for heals between phases, but don’t risk taking damage in the heal animation.
Beating the Bell Beast feels good on its own, but you also unlock Bellways fast travel, letting you zip through Pharloom in style. On top of that, you snag a Silk Heart, which automatically regenerates a spool of silk. That’s a clutch resource that keeps you topped up for heals and abilities.
Silksong is proving it wasn’t just smoke and mirrors. The hype train has left the station, and this first major boss sets the tone. We already dug into how Hollow Knight: Silksong Crashes Storefronts and Indie Dev Egos, and the Bell Beast is another reminder that Team Cherry knows how to mix spectacle with skill checks.
So suit up, cut her loose, and get ready for a fight that’ll test your nerves as much as your reflexes.
Pharloom’s just getting started so if you haven’t tried the game yet, pick up Hollow Knight: Silksong for yourself on Steam for only $20!

Hi, I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Report AFK, a gaming and anime site built for people who are tired of sanitized mainstream media coverage and toothless hot takes. I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. Whether I'm deep-diving into ARAM strats, roasting a broken patch, or side-eyeing the latest "diverse" but soulless AAA release, I write with one goal in mind: cut the fluff and tell it how it is. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season. Follow my rants, insights, and updates on ReportAFK.com and let me know what you think in the comments - I read (and usually respond to) every. single. one.
A place for gamers, by gamers, untarnished by corporate gaming media and their nonstop attempts to elevate bad games while denouncing any developers brave enough to stand up to them.
