Look, Monster Hunter Wilds has already delivered some of the best monster smashing, gear chasing fun we’ve gotten in years…but Capcom clearly isn’t done feeding us.
Title Update 4 is dropping December 16, 2025, and it’s packing enough new content to make even the most burnt out hunter pick their weapon back up and pretend they weren’t doomscrolling between hunts.

This is the kind of update that says, “Yeah, we heard you. And also? Hold my whetstone.”
Let’s break down the biggest stuff coming in TU4 – the things you should be hyped for, the things you should side eye, and the things that’ll probably make you scream into Discord at 3 a.m.
First up: Gogmazios is back.
If you’re new to the franchise, this absolute unit is a massive Elder Dragon dipped in enough toxic sludge to qualify as an environmental hazard.
Veterans know exactly why this is a big deal: Gogmazios is one of those monsters that turns hunts into some full on boss battles. No “just poke it until it dies” nonsense here.
You’re gonna have to work for this kill.
And Wilds isn’t bringing it back as a nostalgia throwback…oh no.
According to reports and some early community breakdowns, the fight introduces new mechanics:
Gogmazios is coated in oil.
Fire attacks burn off the sludge.
Once exposed, it becomes weak to Dragon.
It’s basically a living chemistry set that wants to punt you through a cliffside. Good luck, have fun.
A lot of players have been begging for more endgame content, and Capcom actually listened this time. TU4 is expanding the loop with new Artian weapon upgrades, allowing some of the game’s gear to hit new rarity tiers and potentially unlock random Set Bonus Skill + Group Skill combos.
The good news?
The builds coming out of this could be wild. We’re talking “Why is this legal?” levels of power.
The bad news?
Randomness. Lovely, beautiful, rage-inducing randomness. Wilds might be about to introduce a new endgame grind where half the community becomes full-time salt miners.
Either way? It’s content. Strong content. And that’s exactly what Monster Hunter Wilds needs at this point, in my opinion.
Capcom is buffing multiple weapon types this update, giving players an excuse to dust off the stuff they abandoned 50 hours ago. If you’ve been hard-maining one weapon all season (hammer bros unite!), TU4 is your chance to mix it up and pretend you didn’t forget how to use anything else.
This is the perfect time to experiment, rebuild, and maybe even rediscover the weapon you swore you’d never touch again after one embarrassing cart.
TU4 also brings back a new Festival of Accord, (which we can assume will be a new winter event!). Details are light, but if past festivals are anything to go by, we’re getting:
Limited-time quests
Unique event rewards
Probably some new cosmetics
And the usual seasonal reason to dump way more hours into the game than you planned
The biggest mystery right now is the theme: but whatever it is, expect it to look nice, hit hard, and give you at least three new fashion hunter fits.
Let’s be real: Wilds has been clunky on some PCs. The crashes, stutters, dips…we’ve all been there, staring at our GPU like, “Buddy, why?”
Capcom claims TU4 is bringing major performance improvements, especially to PC. If they pull this off and the game actually starts running smoother, that alone might be the biggest QoL boost of the entire update.
I’m not saying this will fix every issue, but if this patch stops players from spontaneously uninstalling mid-hunt, that’s a win in my book.
The community is buzzing about other additions (like the new 9-Star Rathalos coming in TU4) and whether TU4 is the final big update…but all signs are pointing to “nope.”

Wilds is clearly being supported long term, and this isn’t some closing credits update.
This is mid season hype.
If TU4 hits as hard as it looks, the momentum will carry straight into whatever Capcom has planned next.
December 16th is shaping up to be a big day for Monster Hunter Wilds.
New Elder Dragon? Check.
Endgame overhaul? Check.
Weapon buffs, seasonal events, and performance fixes? Triple check.
This update has something for everyone: the hardcore grinders, the fashion hunters, the build lab nerds, and the players who just want an excuse to jump back in and bonk something huge.
Get your squad prepped. Get your fire weapons ready. And maybe bring a towel, because Gogmazios is about to get messy.
