Lace isn’t here to give you a warm Silksong welcome – she’s here to ruin your day. This first encounter sets the tone for just how unrelenting she is, darting around the arena like a caffeinated wasp with a sword.
The fight is fast, flashy, and downright chaotic, but once you know her patterns, it’s way more manageable. Feel free to use the navigation below to scroll to any specific section or just continue reading.
Lace’s first showdown takes place in Deep Docks, right in the middle of the area. You’ll know you’re close when you start to hear her singing echo through the corridors.
From the Deep Docks entrance, head right, then follow the lowest pathways until you hit a locked gate – she’s just hanging out on the other side, but let’s prep before you go all out.

Make sure to rest at the nearby bench, marked on the map above. It’s the most convenient checkpoint you’ll find before the Lace fight, giving you a lifesaving safe spot to heal and reset if needed.
When you’re all done resting, go back up from where you dropped down and continue straight to the East until you run into Lace.
I made another funderful video guide below on how to beat the first encounter of Lace in Silksong for easy reference, but here’s a full breakdown of her moveset since she didn’t perform a couple during the my fight:
Dashing Lunge: Lace lunges across the arena in a straight line, leaving very little reaction time. Jump or dash over her to avoid and punish.
Aerial Dive: Lace leaps into the air and dives down with her weapon. This attack is the biggest danger of pogo’ing since she can damage you easily while she leaps up.
Parry Counter Attack: One of her more dangerous moves where she crouches down and flashes and will attempt to counter any attacks. You can either wait until her animation is done or or hit her with a pogo to bait out an attack and punish her in the back.
Quick Slashes: A combo of two attacks you’ll see after putting her sword down to her side. Respect her personal space.
Lava of Doom: Ok, this isn’t an “attack” but it’s just as dangerous as Lace’s traditional moveset. Be careful while dodging and pogo’ing around the arena or you’ll find yourself losing health in the lava surrounding the platform.
After stunning Lace a couple of times, she’ll also gain a new AoE attack where she’ll create a field of light and if you’re caught in it’s proximity when she executes the attack – she’ll damage you twice before you can blink.
The main theme throughout the Lace fight? Speed. Every move comes out fast, so anticipation is your best friend while you try to predict where she will be so you can chain your attacks.
Keep Moving: Standing still is a death sentence. Stay mobile and bait her into whiffing attacks.
Punish Windows: Her dive and spin leave her open – these are your big moments for counter damage. When you see Lace stunned, let loose relentlessly.
Use Verticality: Jumping over her lunges and punishing from above makes this fight way smoother.
Stay Calm: The fight feels overwhelming because of her speed and the impending lava lying around, but once you know Lace’s rhythm, she’s more bark than bite.
Beating Lace isn’t about brute force – it’s about patience, spacing, and not letting her erratic style shake you. The first encounter is tough, but mastering it makes later battles way less intimidating.
Take your time, keep those heals sneaky, and make her regret ever crossing your path.

Hi, I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Report AFK, a gaming and anime site built for people who are tired of sanitized mainstream media coverage and toothless hot takes. I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. Whether I'm deep-diving into ARAM strats, roasting a broken patch, or side-eyeing the latest "diverse" but soulless AAA release, I write with one goal in mind: cut the fluff and tell it how it is. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season. Follow my rants, insights, and updates on ReportAFK.com and let me know what you think in the comments - I read (and usually respond to) every. single. one.
A place for gamers, by gamers, untarnished by corporate gaming media and their nonstop attempts to elevate bad games while denouncing any developers brave enough to stand up to them.
