Gaming News 5 Ayefkay August 15, 2025
Capcom didn’t just drop an update – they kicked the door off the hinges and threw nine apex-level monsters straight into your living room.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ 1.021 patch is here, and if you’re HR 100 or above, you’re about to find out how good you really are. Forget chill hunts and easy clears; this is tempered mayhem with a side of RNG chaos.
If you’ve been itching for something truly endgame, you’re eating good. At HR 100+, 9-Star Tempered monsters now roam the field: Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad, Gore Magala, Arkveld, Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, and Seregios.
These aren’t your regular “slightly harder” variants – they hit like a freight train made of angry wyverns.
To spice it up further, Rey Dau and Nu Udra will also crash Wounded Hollow hunts once you’re at the threshold. Basically, you’ll need to bring your A-game and maybe a backup A-game.
Meet the Glowing Stone – your new favorite piece of loot and also the start of your build-crafting addiction spiral. Completing these 9-Star hunts gives you a Glowing Stone, which appraises into a talisman with random skill rolls.
Translation: you’re going to run these fights a lot chasing that perfect god-roll. The Melding Pot even has a new feature to help deal with these appraised talismans because Capcom knows they just handed us a dangerous new hobby.
Patch 1.021 didn’t just pile content onto the endgame – it went on a buff spree across almost every weapon class.
Lance: More counter-attack power, reduced damage taken, faster follow-ups, and even less sharpness loss on big hits.
Dual Blades: New finisher called Turning Tidedrill, plus a speed boost in Demon Mode.
Great Sword, Charge Blade, Insect Glaive, Hunting Horn – all got smoother combos and higher raw or elemental damage.
Bowguns: Ammo tweaks for more damage and faster reloads.
Basically, whatever you mained just got a little more fun to swing, shoot, or stab.
There are ALOT of weapon changes so I encourage you to check out the full Monster Hunter Wilds v1.021 Patch Notes on Steam.
Capcom also threw in a few life-savers:
Hide ammo or coating types you never use.
Recoil Aim Assist for precision shooting.
Favorite your gear so you don’t accidentally sell your perfect set after a bad day.
Snappier map controls for when you’re hunting in a hurry.
Of course, no massive patch lands without a little chaos. Some hunters reported game-breaking crashes if they fainted while fast traveling or returning to camp.
The issue hit all platforms, but Capcom pushed out hotfix 1.021.01.00 the very next day to squash it. They also fixed a Wide-Range bug that was making appraised talismans less effective.
If you’re in the late-game, 1.021 is everything you’ve been asking for: brutal hunts, juicy loot, and meaningful weapon buffs. But it’s also a grind-fest that will chew up your evenings and demand perfection. For some, that’s heaven.
For others, it’s a headache. Either way, HR 100+ just went from “done” to “barely getting started.”

Hi, I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Report AFK, a gaming and anime site built for people who are tired of sanitized mainstream media coverage and toothless hot takes. I want to bring both the technical know-how and battle-tested gamer instincts to every article here. Whether I'm deep-diving into ARAM strats, roasting a broken patch, or side-eyeing the latest "diverse" but soulless AAA release, I write with one goal in mind: cut the fluff and tell it how it is. I've worked in digital marketing and spoke in conferences nationwide, but my heart’s always been in the trenches of gaming - whether that’s grinding ladders, theorycrafting late at night, or binge-watching the 38th questionable isekai this season. Follow my rants, insights, and updates on ReportAFK.com and let me know what you think in the comments - I read (and usually respond to) every. single. one.
A place for gamers, by gamers, untarnished by corporate gaming media and their nonstop attempts to elevate bad games while denouncing any developers brave enough to stand up to them.
