Capcom Announces Monster Hunter Stories 3 With New Teaser

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection Trailer

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Announced

Capcom has done it again!

And by “it,” we mean dropping a vague, mood-heavy announcement trailer for a game we won’t be able to touch until 2026. That’s right, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is officially real, officially teased, and officially nowhere close to launch.

But hey, at least we got a name, some ominous art, and a trailer full of cinematic longing.

Twisted Reflection marks the third entry in the turn-based Monster Hunter Stories RPG spinoff series, which is basically what happens when you bond with the monsters instead of slicing their tails off for armor parts.

You play as a Rider, not a Hunter, raising and fighting alongside your adorable-yet-deadly Monsties (yes, that’s still what they’re called) while uncovering world-shaking secrets that usually involve someone trying to destroy everything with a corrupted elder dragon.

Capcom hasn’t released much yet. Surprise, surprise.

But they did share some official Monster Hunter Stories 3 art and a teaser site.

Teaser Art: Dramatic Shadows and Twin Protagonist Energy

Let’s overanalyze this like it’s a FromSoftware trailer.

what’s the plural for Rathalos? Rathalii?

We’ve got two Rathalos facing each other with a cracked monster egg between them, glowing eyes, and the faint energy of competition going on. Capcom’s clearly going for a darker, edgier tone here. Maybe the game will explore duality, corruption, or some twisted legacy from previous Riders.

Or maybe it’s just cool art and we’re all getting played. Who knows?

Still, the subtitle Twisted Reflection practically screams “emotional damage incoming.” And if the devs lean into some morally gray choices about monster raising, we might be in for a slightly more mature narrative than Stories 2: Wings of Ruin gave us.

That game was all about hope, heritage, and friendship. This one? It kind of feels like it’s about betrayal, trauma, and staring into your Monstie’s glowing eyes as you question everything you’ve ever known.

So yeah, we’re into it.

What You Can Do While You Wait for the MHS 3 Release

Since Twisted Reflection is coming in 2026 (and let’s be honest, probably late 2026 if Capcom’s usual marketing cycle is any indication), you’ve got plenty of time to replay (or finally try out) Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2

And Capcom conveniently put both games on sale to celebrate the announcement.

If you missed either of these, they’re worth checking out, especially now that we know the third entry is on the way. With any luck, Capcom will continue to carry over saved data bonuses or Easter eggs for veteran players.

So grind wisely!

What Platforms Will Monster Hunter Stories 3 Be On?

At this time, it looks like Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will be available on all next-gen consoles including the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X | S, and Steam.

These are all confirmed on their Monster Hunter Stories 3 teaser website.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Cool Vibes, Painful Wait

There’s not a whole lot to chew on yet.

But Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection already looks like it could take the Stories franchise in a bolder direction. Whether that means heavier themes, deeper mechanics, or just more dramatic hair physics is yet to be seen.

Still, we’re watching.

Capcom may not have dropped gameplay yet, but this early announcement confirms they’re still committed to this weird little RPG subseries. And we’re glad to see it get some spotlight.
