Phasmophobia Chronicle Update: New Gear and More Screams

Phasmophobia Chronicle Update is Live

Phasmophobia Chronicle Update: The Big Spook is Finally Here

My fellow ghost hunters, it’s time to gear up!

The Chronicle update for Phasmophobia finally landed today, June 24, 2025, free for all platforms (PC, consoles, the whole damn lot).

No early queuing at Best Buy required – just caffeine and a fresh pair of adult diapers.

Phasmo's New Gear: Sound Recorder & Media Overhaul

Sound Recorder

A tiered (Tier 1 at Level 4) audio device capturing everything from Spirit Box banter to ghost laughter. And yes, there are new static and rattling-door effects that’ll have you jumping out of your chair.

The New Media Tab

Photos are no longer the only game in town. Video and audio evidence now shine in the revamped Journal, rewarding those unique captures like ghostly whispers or orb sightings.

Evidence Rework

First-time captures in each media category are tagged as “Unique” and rake in cash plus XP. Duplicates? Meh, chump change. The better your gear tier, the fatter your payout.

But don’t worry, the evidence for your investigations won’t be changing!

Phasmo Gameplay Tweaks: Scarier, Meaner, Cleaner

Photo Caps

Now limited to 5 shots. No more salt-pile spam (ghosts are watching).

VR & QoL upgrades

Auto-aim on doors, new cabinet filters, better VR interactions. No more ghost fiddling with a broken door handle while the rest of you scream in base.

Main Menu & UI Changes

A slicker, cleaner interface drops you right into the horror while a better truck interface is there to comfort all the chickens that don’t want to go into the house to actually hunt ghosts.

The Scare Factor Has Seriously Amped Up

Reviewers are already saying that Chronicle is “the scariest and most compelling version of Phasmophobia to date” – with more dynamic ghost audio, omg-level creaks, and branch-raising ambiance.

I hear weird whispering…raspy laughs in the basement…never turned off that fast.

I honestly have to agree that this update is pretty damn good.

While it’s not exactly the Phasmophobia Horror 2.0 update we’ve been waiting for, Chronicle definitely brings the heat with these funderful additions and improvements.

Phasmophobia Update Roadmap Recap: Chronicle Is Just the Start

  • Coming later: Grafton Farmhouse rework (which isn’t drop with Chronicle, but is scheduled for later this year).

  • Horror 2.0: A full horror rework is slated for 2026, along with character models, ghost AI, custom cosmetics, and more.

  • Devs want tight updates but aren’t going big on seasonal live service. Just pure, unfiltered terror and funsies.

The Chronicle Update Slaps Hard

From what I can see so far, the Chronicle update is a gamechanger in the best way possible for Phasmo.

Salt-pile addicts beware: your photo-happy rituals are super duper dead. Now you’re here, screaming into microphones and chasing ghost breath like a true ghost hunter (don’t forget about our Phasmophobia Ghost Identifying Guide to help too!).

And the new sounds and audio?

Think baseboard creaks, whirring static, and basement whispers that chill you to the bone like when you first started playing.

TL;DR: This game just got way more vibey and I’m here for it.
