Gaming NewsNew Releases 6 35 Ayefkay June 5, 2025
Ah, Oblivion Remastered – the game that promised to resurrect our nostalgic adventures in Cyrodiil with shiny new graphics and smoother gameplay.
The first Steam beta patch has dropped (with a full platform release planned on June 11th), aiming to squash a lot of those pesky bugs. But while some glitches have been addressed, the performance issues? They’re still lurking in the shadows, ready to crash your game faster than you can say “horse armor”.
While the second planned update is meant to address these funderful performance issues – without an announced release date, we’re only left with Bethesda’s “when we are able” not-so-comforting estimation.

The recent Oblivion update fixed a slew of bug fixes:

Despite the bug fixes, performance issues persist:
Even high-end rigs equipped with RTX 5090 GPUs struggle to maintain stable frame rates, especially in open-world areas.
Players report severe stuttering, long load times, and crashes, sometimes even on the main menu.
A possible memory leak issue could be causing FPS to degrade the longer you play, affecting all platforms.
It’s like the game is stuck in a time loop – reliving its OG performance nightmares from 2006.
The community, ever resourceful, has devised some temporary fixes:
Manually enabling DLSS and Frame Generation via the NVIDIA App can boost performance for RTX 50-series users.
Rolling back to previous NVIDIA drivers has helped some players reduce stuttering.
Deleting and rebuilding shader caches, and adjusting graphics settings, offer marginal improvements.

Bethesda’s response has been…underwhelming. They acknowledged the issues caused by the hotfix but claimed it was intended for backend tweaks and shouldn’t have impacted gameplay.
A subsequent hotfix aimed to address the upscaling problems, but many players still report persistent performance issues.
Oblivion Remastered had the potential to be a glorious return to one of the most beloved RPGs. The first patch shows that the developers are working on improvements, but the glaring performance issues remain.
